红褪池莲，翠销岸柳，
秋光摇落难禁。
倦旅情怀，倚栏欲动愁吟。
轻苔细草闲庭院，忆故园花满墙阴。
正亭亭、雪蕊横钗，绿鬓添簪。
朱颜已向天涯老，
恐苔荒砌冷，缟袂难寻。
人去空阶，玉容一样销沉。
重来纵有花堪折，奈萧疏、短发霜侵。
任鸣蛩、啼雨啼烟，伴到秋深。

汤国梨（1883-1980），号影观。女，浙江乌镇人。曾任吴兴女校校长。1949年后，任江苏省文史研究馆馆员等职。有《影观楼诗稿》《影观楼词集》。TANG Guoli (1883-1980), female, Image & View by literary name, a native of Wuzhen, Zhejiang Province. She was Principal of Wuxing Girls’ School. After 1949, she served as a member of Jiangsu Institute for Culture and History. Red fades from lotus gay;Green thins as willows sway.The autumn hue swayed won’t longer stay.Having sojourned away,I lean on the rail, singing a sad lay.Light moss, thin grass,the yard has its free hours;O my homeland, the shaded wall, all flowers.Elegant, graceful, the snow bud is a pin;My sideburns green therein. Far flung, my rosy cheeks are turning old;Moss wet, abandoned rails feel cold. White flowers are hard to find;The steps are left behind.The fair beauty has all declined.If again you could, pluck flowers while you may;But so desolate, frost touches my hair gray.Let the insects chirp, to the rain cheep, to the mist cheep,With me till autumn deep.
*jade hairpin flowers: referring to those of the plantain lily, which are jade-colored and hairpin-shaped in bud.

风雨沉沉里。
料荒村、青灯暗淡，拥衾无寐。
江上涛声窗外雨，听彻鱼龙夜起。
忍俯仰、茫茫身世。
茅店鸡声惊客梦，
怕豪情未必消磨易。
青鬓改，恨难已。
鸡虫得失诚何事。
怅年年、飘蓬压线，误人归计。
多难少孤为客早，寥落天涯兄弟。
算总是饥驱为累。
陇亩躬耕虚宿愿，
便封侯已负平生志。

汤国梨（1883～1980），字志莹，号影观。浙江乌镇人。曾任吴兴女校校长。1949年后，任江苏省文史研究馆馆员。有《影观集》等。
TANG Guoli (1883-1980), styled Gem with Will, Shadow Observation by literary name, a native of Wuzhen, Zhejiang Province. She served as Principal of Wuxing Girls’ School. The poet worked at the Jiangsu Institute of Culture and History after the year of 1949. An Anthology of Shadow Observationis one of her works.（董庆瑗译）

The wind and rain heavily sweep;
Village deserted, lamplight weak and dim,
I cannot fall asleep.
My window hears waves roar and rain weep;
The night listens to fish and dragons leap.
My head I lower and raise, my life’s a sea in haze;
The rooster in my dream does me amaze.
As it seems, my pride no time can erase;
My grief I can’t stop, my black hair now grays.
I don’t care whether I rise or fall down;
Year in and year out, thistledown
With my roam can’t go back to my town.
An orphan, I drift, so weary and worn,
At the world’s end from my brothers torn.
Hunger and hardship always drive me tired;
Tilling the land is not what is desired.
I have failed to be knighted, failing and losing once again;
Who’ll try to obtain a little-fly gain?
